AI that grows with us—and lives with us.

About us

This AI Research Center was newly established in December 2016, with its founding members primarily drawn from faculty of the Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences and the Graduate School of Engineering.

Building on YNU’s strengths in artificial intelligence (evolutionary machine learning, advanced reinforcement learning, and more) as well as interdisciplinary research that integrates engineering, mechanical engineering, and the social sciences, this Center aims to promote cutting-edge academic research beyond the boundaries of organizations inside and outside the University. In addition, to realize the use of big data, the advancement of IoT, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we will actively engage in industry–academia–government collaboration, joint research, and cooperative projects.

Under Yokohama National University’s culture that values advancement and internationality together with practicality and openness, and also emphasizes diversity, we will leverage Yokohama’s strategic location as an advanced city close to central Tokyo. By drawing on our organizational strengths—bringing together on a single campus the faculties and graduate schools essential to advancing AI, including science and engineering, economics, business administration, and education—we will proactively and energetically address a wide range of challenges.

If you are interested in next-generation AI methodologies beyond today’s deep-learning boom, feel that current AI has limitations, are struggling with how to collect and leverage big data, are exploring ways to secure competitive advantage for your organization, are considering implementing IoT, or want to realize intelligent machines, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please feel free to contact us.
